As the use of Social Media has exploded over the last few years, more traditional ways of sourcing candidates ie job advertisements or Job Board CV searching has become less effective and in fact we as recruiters have to change the way we find candidates, or do we?
All the most successful recruiters have always relied on networking and referral as the best way to find the right candidates for a client rather than just relaying on the pot luck of a CV appearing in their inbox, so even before LinkedIn, Twitter & Facebook they would already have a strong portfolio of candidates and contacts developed through thorough knowledge of the market they work in.
What Social Media does allow us to do is to do this quicker, however it really doesn’t matter how good you are at Twittering, if you haven’t already developed your network its not going to help.
